Our final project event took place October 31st – November 2nd 2025 in Salzburg, Austria. We were there as guests at „Tipping Points” event. We planned for a workshop program and discussions, and invited activists working in the field of grassroots movements for social change to engage in our final network meeting.

Whom was this for?

We had a goal to share and exchange ideas, concepts and methods with fellow educators, trainers, activists, organizers. We also wanted to use a chance of meeting offline with educators to present one of the most important outcomes of the project – our handbook.

Friday

On Friday we had a getting to know each other session, where we presented the project, the project partners, the project results and the handbook, which was freshly printed before the start of the event. Each participant got a copy of the handbook. You can find and order it through the link here https://skills4crisis.org/resource/handbook-s4c/

After short introductions we invited participants to practice some of the methods that we gathered in the handbook.

After that we shared some thoughts and ideas with the participants, thinking together of: what is crisis for us and how it effects our lives; what gives us motivation to keep on doing what we are doing; and if there is hope left.

On the panel discussion Payal, Johannes and Franziska shared their ideas and experiences on what collapse means for them and what strategies help them to move on. Even though at the beginning the discussion was rather pessimistic, we finished on a very positive note, finding hope in mutual aid, solidarity and self-organising.

There is a wooden stage and four people are sitting on the chairs on ir engaged in a conversation. There is a big screen behind them with a presentation on it.

Saturday

On a workshop with Johannes we started with sharing our stories of solidarity. In smaller groups we talked about our behaviour strategies in crisis and then shared them all together. There was a small input from Johannes on disaster solidarity concept. And at the end we collected various skills that are important and could be useful in order to deal with crisis.

On white sheet of paper with colourful pencils the mountains, the clouds and the sky are drawn. There is also a logo of the project - Skills for Crisis drawn at the top right corner. There are two blue paper notes attached in the middle: one saying re-centering mental health, another - in times of social collapse and multiple crises

On a workshop with Fine we first had an input on Learning zone model, The polyvagal theory and Emotional wheel. After that we practiced very concrete mental health methods by doing grounding exercises and a collective journaling exercise.

Sunday

Sunday session was dedicated to collecting feedback and wishes for possible future steps. We also asked people to share their a-ha moments and inspirations from other workshops. We exchanged ideas on what it would be interesting to continue working on, we collected useful contacts of people and groups, who work on the topic on crisis in Germany, Austria and other European countries.

Costs

  • All the events were free of charge.
  • Food and accommodation was free of charge

If you feel like you want to support the project, feel free to donate though 🙂 https://skills4crisis.org/#get-involved
